We are still online, 14 years on

Just a quick update post that the site is still here and being maintained. A pandemic can’t bring a good translation project site down.

A friendly reminder that the main site wiki can be found at https://opticalgarbage.com/frontmission/wiki

Lastly if you want to do your bit to help keep the site online for another 14 years then please donate via our sister site here https://projectnemo.net/donate.shtml

Thank you!

I would like to help me out on gathering for Front Mission 2089: Border of Madness English Translation Romhacking Project. The reason why started this? It’s because one of my gameplay video already got like 13k views (with asking for translation in comments) and someone by the name of The_Boulevard at GBATemp (Thread: [Clean] Official Translation Requests Topic) requested the game to have an English translation. Besides, I did some little hacking for ASCII parts (weapons/parts/etc. names on top-screen, not Japanese parts) using WindHex on my smartphone, but unfortunately still struggling only have an Android phone without PC or Laptop to continue much further (unless anyone interested making donation through PayPal or Ko-Fi). You can find ready to translate patch at my Discord server only somewhere in my social media such as Facebook Page or Twitter Account (requires specific roles to access it), and here’s Twitter post to prove how it could be done as of my hacking knowledge.

Hi Hengki,

Thanks for your message.

Sadly the original translation team is not active although we keep in touch.

By using forums like ROM Hacking, we are sure you can find others to help – the original SNES FM1 and Gun Hazard were made by other groups of passionate fans.

Maybe it’s time for a new generation of highly motivated fans to carry the torch. We can help by providing hosting for any files and use of the blog and wiki.

Good luck!

Hi Zeko, no we do not 🙂

The translation team are not active. We are busy in our own lives… so now is the time for a new generation of fans.

🙂

It’s a shame but you guys have already done a great deal of work and we are all extremely greatful for it!

I did find a discord with a humble number of Front Mission fans:
https://discord.gg/Y4q7BWBP3c

But I didn’t find any talk of opticalgarbage there 🙁
But the people are nice and welcoming as you would expect of FM fans 😀

Thanks for all you have done, its so sad seeing Square Enix killing the Franchise… Will you allow other groups to complete Front Mission 2 based on your files? I dont think people today even remember Front Mission, but i still hope someone will offer a completed FM2 at some point 🙂 Front Mission is so awesome. I wish you the best in your lives in the future!
